Graphing the Weather

Objective:

  • Students will be able to find a 5 day forecast on the Internet.
  • Students will be able to use graphing paper (html) / (pdf) to graph a 5 day forecast.

Grade Level: 4-6

Student Activities:

Students will look up the National Weather Survey on the Internet. They will then pick a location to look at a five day forecast. The student will then place the information on the graphing paper (html) / (pdf). The teacher might have to go over graphing skills with the class.

1.0 Students display, analyze, compare, and interpret different data sets, including data sets of different sizes.

1.2 organize and display single-variable data in appropriate graphs and representations (e.g., histogram, circle graphs) and explain which types of graphs are appropriate for various data sets

Grade 6:
Statistics, Data Analysis and Probability
1.0 Students compute and analyze statistical measurement for data sets.

1.1 compute the range, mean, median, and mode of data sets
