Planning a Trip

Introduction: Students will plan a trip to from 3 to 5 cities of their choice.

Prior Knowledge: Students should know how to use a search engine(s) and be able to print in color from the Internet.

Grade Level: 4-7; 8-12.

Task: Students should be asked to give you the names of from three to five cities. After checking and approving their choices, you should give them the reminder of the assignment. The main assignment is to make a brochure to travel to the chosen cities. It should be of a quality that it could be used by a customer to decide if they would like to take this trip. It should include fares for planes, trains, rental cars etc., cost of housing and meals, points of interest to visit in the cities.

Resources: Access to the Internet with search engine(s) and a color printer.

Process: Students should use search engine(s) to find the information for the cities, downloading to a color printer. They should put the information into a brochure of a quality to be used by a customer.

Learning Advice: Students will learn the use of search engines and printing from the Internet. The student will put together a brochure that could be used by a customer or for a trip they or their family plan to take.

Extensions:

Conclusion: Students have had fun with this lesson and turned in some high quality brochures.
